The world has undergone a tremendous change in the last 20 years.

For example, when I was a child, getting from one place to another by aeroplane was a big job.

It was expensive, it was difficult, and it was not possible to go from everywhere to everywhere.

Today, it is possible to buy a ticket anywhere in the world in 10 minutes on your mobile phone and travel the same day. Moreover, on the way to the airport, you can book a hotel in the city you are travelling to.

When this freedom of travel was combined with social media visuals and ease of access to physicians, a global aesthetic tourism was born.

As of now, travelling between countries is perhaps easier than travelling between cities 10 years ago.

Turkey has become one of the leading countries in aesthetic health tourism with the quality of both health and tourism services and affordable prices.

As of now, one third of all patients we perform facial rejuvenation surgery are travelling from abroad. Considering the current growth rate, I estimate that this rate will exceed 60% in the next 10 years, at least for my own practice.

If you are a candidate who is considering facial rejuvenation surgery in my clinic and residing outside Turkey, this article will guide you.

The most important factor that pushes a patient to seek treatment outside his/her home city is the price/benefit advantage.

There is almost no country in the world where there is no plastic surgeon or facial rejuvenation surgery. Therefore, a patient leaves his/her comfort zone and goes to another country either for a better price or a better service. This is the motivation that brings me patients from abroad.

First of all, when evaluating surgeries related to facial aesthetics, you should know that not every surgery introduced with the same name is the same. Just as not every watch or car is the same, not every facial rejuvenation surgery is the same.

We are currently performing sub-SMAS techniques, endoscopic surgery techniques, advanced oculoplastic surgery applications in a very comfortable environment in hospitals with international quality accreditation. I am only interested in facial aesthetics and I perform hundreds of these surgeries every week, every year. We have refined surgical techniques to reduce complication rates much lower than the literature averages. I am a physician who has entered the international type literature on facial aesthetics, has been invited to scientific meetings in various countries of the world, and has developed modern surgical techniques.

There are other physicians with this level of expertise both in Turkey and in the world. However, the vast majority of these physicians reside in developed countries where the annual per capita income is above 40,000 USD. In these countries, you need to allocate a budget 4-10 times more than in Turkey to have a similar surgery by a surgeon with the same level of expertise. Some of the prospective patients state that our surgery fees are not very affordable and that they can have surgery in London, New York, Paris or Zurich with this fee. This is true, with the same budget, you can probably have surgery where you live. However, you will probably not have a surgery of the same quality by a physician with the same expertise. In summary, our benefit/price ratio is quite high compared to countries with more stable economies.

Before travelling, you can ask us for references of our patients who live in the same country as you. Most probably, we can put you in contact with another patient living in the same country and you can benefit from their experience. Online Video Consultation

In the first stage, we conduct an online consultation with candidate patients abroad. In this consultation, we both get to know each other and we can discuss the details. During the consultation, we can see the signs of aging of your face, the level of sagging and skin wrinkles. During the consultation, we will inform you about which facelift surgery technique suits you best.

In most cases, the operation plan and price are determined during the online consultation. If you decide to proceed with us, my assistants will help you with the surgery appointment, arranging preoperative examinations and consultations, airport transfer, hotel reservation, escort, interpreter, etc.

Before the surgery, you should inform us about your medical history, aesthetic surgical procedures you have undergone, allergies, medications you use, diseases and anything that may affect the surgical process. You can send us your youth photos online to give us an idea. We do not recommend you to plan your travel with promotional flight tickets that cannot be changed or renewed, or promotional hotel reservations with no cancellation option. For example, in case of active infection, we may need to postpone the operation. For this reason, for example, if you develop a fever 2-3 days before your travel date, you should be able to reschedule the ticket.

One of the most important issues that my patients travelling from abroad should be aware of is that in case of a possible complication, the duration of their stay in Turkey may be slightly prolonged. Although the likelihood of a complication that may require you to stay longer is quite low, we still recommend that you design your return work and social life planning flexibly.

Most of the time we organise your stay in Turkey long enough to send you safely back to your country. Sometimes my patients prefer to have a small holiday in the immediate vicinity of Ankara, on the Mediterranean / Aegean coast or in Istanbul following the 3-4 day early postoperative observation period, overcome the oedema and bruising, and return to their countries with a more normal appearance. I strongly recommend my patients who will be travelling especially between April and November to consider this option.

Our patients travelling from abroad for beauty purposes are like guests for us. My clinic, the hospital where you will undergo surgery and the hotel where you will stay are located in the most elegant and safe place in Ankara, in a circle 300 metres in diameter. There are many restaurants, pharmacies, cinemas and shopping centres within a ten-minute walk.
