How Is A Facelift Surgery Performed?

Facelift surgery is a surgical procedure

- performed by plastic surgeons

- in hospital conditions

- under anesthesia.

At the beginning of the operation, the patient's face is marked, their hair is braided, the face is sterilized and then covered.

The pressure-exposed areas of the body are supported by soft silicone cushions.

The room and the patient are warmed up, and preparations for anesthesia are completed.

The patient does not feel anything while under general anesthesia.

Surgery begins with an incision (skin cut) around the ear. The facial skin is lifted like a sheet along a certain distance. Subsequently, procedures for the SMAS layer of the face are performed. Sometimes the SMAS layer is lifted as a separate sheet, and sometimes it is folded over itself with sutures and is thus shaped.

The SMAS layer is fixed to its new position.

Bleeding control is applied very carefully.

Thin drains that collect blood or fluids are placed under the skin.

The skin is lifted and stretched to the desired position and the excess skin is excised.

Afterwards, the facial skin is adapted to its new surface and incision line with suturing techniques.

The skin is sutured in layers using ultra fine stitches.

The procedures so far take about 2-4 hours due to the "delicate nature of the work".

Once the procedure is over, the patient’s face is washed. Hair is washed, conditioned, combed and braided.

A light, non-adherent dressing is applied.

A temporary mask that applies light pressure is put on the face.

The emergence from anesthesia takes place. After being followed up and monitored in the operating room for about an hour, the patient is transferred to their room.

Depending on the size of the procedure, they are hospitalized and followed up in the hospital for 1 or 2 nights.

Routine follow-up begins after surgery.

I recommend you take a look at my blog post on postoperative recovery.

You can watch videos of various techniques in facelift surgery at the clinic when you come for an examination. I wouldn't recommend it, but it is possible for very curious patients.

Please feel free to contact us for detailed information on how a facelift is performed.

Take good care...

... of yourself and your beauty.
