Isolated Brow Lift Techniques

Although it is our first choice and the most ideal option to treat the Forehead/Temple/Brow unit holistically, we are not obliged to include the forehead and temple area in the treatment to lift the eyebrows.

The eyebrows may also be raised independently of the forehead and temples, that is, in isolation. It is the simplest to inject some Botox so that the muscles that pull the eyebrows down can be weakened and a temporary increase of 1-2 mm can be achieved in the eyebrows.

Among the isolated brow lift techniques, the two techniques I prefer the most are transblepharoplasty brow lift and direct brow lift.

In the direct eyebrow lift technique, skin is elliptically removed from above the eyebrow and the elliptical skin opening is sutured again to form a straight line. This technique raises the eyebrow directly but leaves a visible scar between the eyebrow and the forehead skin. The direct eyebrow lift technique is a very effective technique. It is simple, heals quickly, is performed under local anesthesia and presents almost no complications. The ideal patients for this technique are male patients with advanced forehead aging. In about 6 months to 1 year, the surgical scar will look like one of the wrinkles on the forehead and will not catch attention. On the other hand, this technique is not suitable for the middle age group, in whom the forehead wrinkles are not deep enough to camouflage the scar.

In the transblepharoplasty brow lift technique, we go up through the incision we use during upper blepharoplasty and mobilize the underside of the eyebrow. Then we fix the eyebrow to the connective tissue on the forehead with permanent sutures. This technique can permanently lift the eyebrows by 1-3 mm, and more importantly, it prevents the eyebrows from drooping after upper eyelid surgery. In combination with this technique, it is also possible to restore the fullness of the eyebrow by placing an implant under it.

I do not prefer other techniques that lift eyebrows in isolation. The reason is the formation of an unnatural appearance that exposes a previous eyebrow operation. Simply raise your eyebrows voluntarily in front of the mirror and observe your face. Then raise your eyebrow with your finger and observe your face again. When you just raise your eyebrow, a skin fold forms on the forehead just above the eyebrow. When this fold occurs for only 1-2 seconds during the eyebrow lifting gesture, it is natural, does not attract attention and is not strange.

The formation of such skin folds and abnormal mimics are among the frequently encountered problems in thread lift techniques raising the eyebrow in isolation. At times, while everything looks normal on a face without facial expressions, unnatural folds may occur during mimic activity and these are really very disturbing in social life.
